Bio
Hello there! Just in case you didn't know, Alexander Ortiz Velez (b. Aug 22, 2002) began composing at the age of 12, when he moved from Puerto Rico to Florida in 2015. His struggle to adapt to a new language and frustration of not being able to properly display his emotions led him to his first compositions for piano. Up to this day, Alex prefers to portray his philosophy of balance, simplicity, and direction through his music.
His style explores a combination of Jazz, Baroque, and Impressionism.
While Alex began his music studies at the Puerto Rican public school of music, or Escuela Libre de Musica de Arecibo, he owes great appreciation for the education he received from his choir director Mr. Larry J. Stanley, Sr., and Dr. Marcos Daniel Flores, pianist at the Vero Beach Opera Association. Others were also an integrant part of Alex's current success, but their support was key to discover his passion for composition.

He currently studies music composition at Stetson University, under the hand of composer Dr. Manuel de Murga.

Some of his current explorations include studying jazz, piano, organ and reading a lot of figured bass scores. If he is not composing, he is either cooking, outside or preparing music for his next mass.
